Serving oneself and neglecting the community or employee/coworker well-being in the name of personal pride is UNACCEPTABLE.” In other comments from 1862 institutions in response to the overarching question, one respondent specifically requested “training in how to advocate for more equitable systems that don't erode rural environments and communities.” They go on to say, “extractive economic processes are harming society and land.” Another respondent said, “ University and Extension administration does not understand or value community and economic development enough to make a make a higher priority commitment to it by allocating base funding (tenure track) for 4- 6 field positions across the state and we have some limited campus position support.”
