The Funding and Other Resources category tied with Telling Our Story, ranking second for the 1994 Land-grant institutions. Training associated with funding and other resources ranked fourth for 1862 Land-grants, and eight for 1890 institutions. Within the 1994 Land-grant responses, training related to finding new revenue streams, grant writing, telling our story, grant management, and administrative processes associated with grant funding were all ranked number one (Table 19). Training needs associated with marketing and resource management ranked second. Budget and fiscal management training ranked third in terms of training needs for 1994 Land-grants. Training associated with finding new revenue streams was the top-ranked funding and other resources subcategory for 1862 Land-grants (Table 19). This was followed by grant writing in the second position, and marketing in third. The rankings in terms of training needs for 1890 Land-grants began at the top with resource management (Table 19). This was followed by a three-way tie in the second position for finding new revenue streams, grant writing, and budget and fiscal management. Training needs associated with marketing and partnership development ranked third for the 1890 institutions.

There were five responses from 1862 and two from 1890 Land-grants to explain other responses. One 1890 respondent indicated need for more training in time management to assist in this area. Uses for funding by 1862s included staff to focus on “full - time marketing at the county level” and “program evaluation for impact o f health rankings”. One 1862 respondent said, “the perceived need is more funding streams but unfortunately we are not looking at the other things listed”, emphasizing budget and fiscal management. One each 1862 and
