Sources of Training Survey participants were asked to identify sources provided on a list from which they received professional development training that added value to your personal or professional life. The highest number of respondents indicated they received training from another college, university, or Extension organization (Figure 1). The second greatest respondents received this training from their college, university, or Extension organization. The third highest response was subject matter organizations. Fourth highest was the Extension Foundation with JCEP Organizations selected fifth.

While some responses to “other” fit within the provided options, there were additional sources identified that should be considered and included in future work in this area. These include the following (provided as included in survey to avoid misinterpretation): Subject Matter – AAFCS, AAPSE and NPSEC, Academic Impressions, ACE, American Evaluation Association Conference and digital offerings, CAEL, Instructional design consultants, international programs on-site, National Extension Conference on Volunteerism, National Extension Tourism Network, Non-Extension Professional Organizations, PRSA, Ragan Comm, UPCEA Non-profits, NGO’s, and External Organizations including Farm Bureau, Food Solutions/Systems in New England, Leah’s Pantry, Mental Health First Aid, Senentia, Soul Fire Farm, and the State Association of Master Gardener Volunteers which is outside Extension. Other respondents emphasized that these organization are both local and regional and that they receive training through delivery methods including webinars and courses.
State and Federal Government agencies mentioned include NSF, FDIC, CFPB, FDA, NASA, NIFA- NERAOC. State departments were mentioned although specific departments were not identified.
Online resources and social media were mentioned, but LinkedIn Learning was the only specific source identified.
