For corn, flooding that lasts longer than four days, especially in warm conditions, greatly reduces the chances of survival. Soils that have been flooded can also experience severe nutrient loss, remain too saturated for planting, and can have surface characteristics altered, such as sand or sediment deposits, which reduce plant productivity.
