Does your project work with diverse, under-served, and underrepresented audiences? Yes
Please explain briefly how your project works with these audiences. Listening sessions engaged participants from underserved populations, including 1890 and 1994 Land-Grants and other minority-serving institutions. Data on registrant demographics was solicited and will be in the final report. During the Listening Sessions, every breakout room conversation included soliciting responses on underserved and underrepresented populations as a specific "lens". Findings from both survey data and Listening Sessions will be evaluated under this lens to highlight particularized needs identified in relation to these populations.
Significant Results: ● Accomplishments support, in part by NTAE funding:
○ Worked with ArcGIS developer Shane Brandt (UNH) to create an interactive data dashboard of national survey findings and related user guide. ○ Conducted an orientation and planning meeting among facilitators. ○ Announced the schedule of listening sessions ○ Crafted a virtual infrastructure for listening sessions ○ Held eight listening sessions ○ Scheduled and held meetings between NIFA personnel and Facilitators of National Topic Sessions for rapid debrief of outcomes ○ Began briefing key stakeholders on qualitative findings from Listening Sessions (e.g., C-FARE, NACDEP, and Northeast FCS Program Leaders) ○ Co-organized with C-FARE and participated in panel discussion to elaborate on Listening Sessions findings and how they can inform efforts to build capacity to address rural prosperity. This event garnered 280 registrations, 120 live attendees. All registered will receive links to recording and materials. Anticipated work for the next reporting period (June 1, 2022 - August 31, 2022): ● Develop a final report summarizing key findings from a year-long Listening Sessions effort. ● Draft article for Journal of Extension analyzing selected results ● Draft article for Journal of Agriculture, Food Systems and Community ● Development analyzing selected results ● Collaborate with NIFA to plan for larger scale, high-impact briefing of NIFA stakeholders ● Collaborate with C-FARE on two additional virtual events to engage stakeholders around Listening Session findings.
