ECOP Workforce Program Action Team Fellow: Robert Russel, Missouri State University Roadmap
Fellow Report: The ECOP Workforce and Economic Development Program Action Team, led by Dr. Ivory Lyles, Oregon State University, continues to invite Directors, Specialists and Partners to be part of the Workforce and Economic Development Program Action Team. The PAT is continuing to develop their strategic planning and structure process and invites leaders to continue to participate in this development. Once the structure is agreed upon, priorities will be identified and Implementation Teams will coalesce around the key issues and priorities. The Workforce and Economic Development PAT will also be closely linked with other PATs including Climate; Urban Ag and Food Systems; Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; 4-H Positive Youth Development and Health. The Workforce PAT, in partnership with the Extension Foundation, has hired a fellow to assist with their activities. The Fellow is helping to assist with the work of the PAT and is engaging new partners for the system. In addition to the Workforce PAT fellow, two additional fellowships have been advertised and are in the process of being filled. These fellows will support the work of the PAT by building the network of Extension faculty and staff who engage in workforce development activities at each institution and to build the registry of workforce development programs in the National Registry of Cooperative Extension Programs & Assets (NRCEPA). This registry will be used to identify, support, scale, and provide a snapshot of the Cooperative Extension System's depth and breadth of Workforce and Economic Development programming. The Program Action Team (PAT) transitioned from bi-weekly to monthly meetings in the quarter. This was done to allow opportunities for work to be accomplished between the team's regular meetings.
Does your project work with diverse, under-served or underrepresented audiences? Yes
Please explain briefly how your project works with these audiences. The PAT has been working with partners in Guam to help prepare a USDA RISE Grant submission. This submission is pivoting to a planning grant, with an emphasis on building the skills of Guam residents in agricultural production and entrepreneurship.
