ECOPWorkforce ProgramAction Team

Fellow: Robert Russell Roadmap WD PAT Fellow Report:

The purpose of this project is to build capacity and expand the portfolio of the Cooperative Extension System’s work in workforce and economic development, bringing a lens of expertise to help align and move Cooperative Extension forward in both leadership, awareness, and sustainability. The Workforce Development Program Action team had bi-weekly meetings featuring successful WD programs by state or region featured, as well as organizational development presentations. A sub-committee was developed to help advise on an organizational structure and the initial plan was reviewed. A funding request to NIFA for a workforce assessment was funded at $70K and action plans have been developed. AWorkforce Development Fellow has been hired (Robert Russel from the University of Missouri).

● Additional NIFA Funding secured for National Assessment ● Work Plan Developed for Assessment implementation Anticipated Work for Next Reporting Period: (Please list the objectives and goals for the next reporting period.) ● Hire the 2 Assessment Fellows and begin work on national initiatives. The ECOP Workforce and Economic Development Program Action Team, led by Dr. Ivory Lyles, Oregon State University, is in the process of inviting Directors, Specialists, and Partners to be part of the Workforce and Economic Development Program Action Team. The PAT is currently developing a strategic planning and structure process and invites leaders to participate in this development. Once the structure has been agreed upon, priorities will be identified, and Implementation Teams will coalesce around the top few, and develop the next steps. The Workforce and Economic Development PAT will also be closely linked with other PATs including Climate; Urban Ag and Food Systems; Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; 4-H Positive Youth Development and Health. The Workforce PAT is asking all Directors/Administrators to encourage educators working in economic development, workforce, skills development, and training including family, youth,
