● NET Leadership Development - The NET Executive Committee has decided to include an intensive leadership development activity for the NET Design Team as part of the 2023 NET Conference (scheduled for September, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin). We will use the remaining time on our NTAE project to decide what form that will take. ● Partnership Development - during this reporting period, we engaged in several conversations with our catalyst, Scott Reed, and key informant Hellina Tadesse, about developing partnerships with private sector entities and with federal agencies, including with the nascent Federal Interagency Council on Outdoor Recreation (FICOR) launched by the Biden-Harris administration. NET Chair Andy Northrop has begun inviting members of FICOR to the next NET Design Team meeting. Plans are underway to engage in a stakeholder mapping exercise to identify which private sector and federal entities to focus our efforts on. This will be a significant focus of our remaining project timeline. ● DEIA/engagement with Minority-Serving Institutions, including establishment of a DEIA committee for NET. NET Design Team members developed and submitted a proposal for an Extension Foundation NTAE Expansion Grant focused on integrating DEAI into all aspects of the 2023 NET conference, including through travel support, compensation for speakers who are leading DEAI efforts, and support for workshop activities that build DEAI capacity within NET. The proposal was not selected for funding,so we are currently exploring other options for accomplishing these goals.
Does your project work with veterans or veteran farmers? No
Does your project work with diverse, under-served, and underrepresented audiences? Yes Please explain briefly how your project works with these audiences. We do not currently have data on veterans served through our projects. We have created a NET DEIA committee with the goal of expanding outreach to diverse, under-served, and underrepresented audiences. The committee is led by Natalie Chin of University of Wisconsin Sea Grant. The committee has met once, with another meeting planned for late September. Similar to data collection efforts regarding veterans, we expect to collect more detailed data on NET project participants and can include DEIA categories.
