NUEL Capacity Building Team
Fellow: Cayla Taylor, Iowa State University Roadmap
Fellow Report: NUEL continued to work at improving communication with Extension staff across the country working in urban settings by posting regularly to its new Connect Extension site. A plan was implemented for regular posts from NUEL Steering Committee members to ensure content and to keep it fresh. NUEL also added content from the National Urban Extension Conference 2022 to the Connect Extension site including video recordings of all the keynote speakers. NUEL continued to work at promoting the site to expand the membership, which is now over 800 people. NUEL also worked at updating its Urban Extension e-Fieldbook. Plans were developed with the NUEL professional development action team by the NUEL fellow, but progress was slow due to health issues encountered by the NUEL. Work continues on this project. Leadership of the ECOP Urban Agriculture and Food System Program Action Team was transitioned to new co-chairs. Significant Results: ● Membership of the NUEL Connect Extension site continues to grow. It is now about the 4th or 5th largest group, which NUEL is very pleased with since the site was only launched in May 2022. With the support of the fellow and student funded by the NTAE grant NUEL was able this year to update and transition its website to one that requires little management which was what NUEL needed, develop the new closed social media group on Connect Extension that interfaces with the website, add additional content to both Connect Extension and the website, and grow the membership of the Connect Extension group to over 800. Experience(s) working with your Catalysts and Key Informants: They continue to be very supportive and helpful. Aaron Weibe was invaluable in our work on the website and Connect Extension. Rose helped us with evaluating the e-Fieldbook, While Megan and Fred provided support and coaching for the ECOP Agriculture and Food Systems PAT.
