ECOP Workforce Program Action Team Fellow: Robert Russell, Missouri State University Roadmap

Fellow Report: Several significant events for the Workforce PAT happened during the reporting period. Most notably, the team initiated the creation of a Connect Extension group (the Extension Workforce Development Network) that focuses on Workforce Development while also significantly increasing the number of workforce development programs found in the National Registry. The Workforce PAT has also continued to meet regularly, adding members to the PAT and working to develop policies/procedures to enhance the functioning of the Workforce PAT. Finally, the workforce fellows were able to engage with Extension Directors in the Northeast Region and also conduct a Dynamic Discussion on Workforce Development during this period. Significant Results: ● Through this work several significant results have emerged. First, we have developed a network of over 200 Extension professionals from across the United States who are engaging in workforce development activities. These professionals are part of the Connect Extension group (the Extension Workforce Development Network). ● A second result has been the identification of 100 different Extension programs/curricula/educational materials that are related to Workforce Development. Many of these programs have existed in other parts of the National Registry of Cooperative Extension Programs, but had not identified workforce development as an area of emphasis. ● The development of these resources represents an important first step in helping Extension understand what is already happening in workforce development and to building a broader network of professionals engaging in workforce development. Experience(s) working with your Catalysts and Key Informants: Catalysts and key informants have been engaged in working to comprehend the breadth of workforce development opportunities and programs. Most notably, they have been helping the PAT think through opportunities for funding and program development as it relates to workforce development.
