Quarterly Reports NTAE Year 4 Qtr 1

Nourish and Flourish Fellow: Abby Gold, University of Minnesota

Fellow Report: Here are the achievements and activities within this reporting period for the Nourish and Flourish Photovoice and Conversation Guide project: 1. Held nine photovoice sessions with 40 individuals in three separate community support programs across the Twin Cities. The first three sessions were introductory to the photovoice process (one per site). The second six sessions were photovoice sharing sessions where participants shared and discussed their favorite 3-5 photos (two sessions per site to keep the groups small). 2. Six photovoice sessions were recorded and transcribed. Themes were derived from one exemplary transcript. Then all six of the transcripts were coded based on the identified themes. 3. A website was developed for the participants to view their photos and provide feedback about the overall project and how they relate to the way we presented their photos. 4. The team attended the Innovation Skill Building Workshop. We completed several of the activities including a three minute pitch and a unique value proposition. 5. The team presented results from the photovoice project to SNAP Ed educators and other staff members in our Center for Family Development at the University of Minnesota Extension. Significant Results: The themes we identified from the photovoice session transcripts will enable us to generate and prioritize topics for our conversation guide resource. This is a big step in the process. We consider it vital to understand the needs, thoughts, feelings, challenges, and successes of the people who will be served by our innovation. Their voices and photographs will be integrated into the conversation guides. Experience(s) working with your Coach, Catalysts and/or Key Informants as applicable: We have had the good fortune of meeting with Angell Jordan as our coach during the ISBE and one other time prior to the ISBE. I think we are in a good position to move our project forward. I'm wondering if it's possible for just the leader (me) to be coached by Angell. My team members are really busy and I want to respect their time, so our meeting time to get the nuts and bolt work done is vital.
