Quarterly Reports NTAE Year 4 Qtr 1

Promotion of Penn State Extension: Utilizing Cooking Demonstrations to Encourage Healthy Dietary Practices Fellow: Samantha Zlotorzynski, Pennsylvania State University Team Work Plan Fellow Report: Since September, the team has worked on the case statement. It is currently with our peer review team at the moment. Once finalized, it will go to our creative service team to be made into an infographic to be shared with partners starting in January. We connected with Brian Moyer, an extension educator on the business and community vitality team, where he assists farmers and markets with marketing and regulations. He is willing to promote our program in a monthly newsletter in January. We hope to see farmers, markets, and others interested in partnering with us to launch this new program. He is also helping us connect with markets across the state of Pennsylvania. We have also made a connection with Mimi Thomas. She is the director of the PA veteran farming project, willing to connect us with local veteran farmers so we can buy produce from them and perform food demos at their locations. The team promoted our program with other educators at our monthly town hall in hopes we get additional help to achieve our goal of doing this across the state. We have identified the recipes we will demonstrate at markets and other community events. Most are finalized in a template; others still need to go through our marketing team to get into the new template format. We have created an educator toolkit so that when we get help from other educators, they have it to help them stay organized and on track with the program's goals. We have been working on updating our Let's Cook at Home: Herb and Spice webinar PowerPoint and resource page. We hope to see it launched on the extension website in February or March. We also have been working on an index card with a QR code that takes you to a resource page that specifically talks about the program. We share extension resources such as articles and sign up for webinars, videos, and recipes—working with marketing to get those finalized and printed by March.

Experience(s) working with your Coach, Catalysts and/or Key Informants as applicable: Our coach Dyremple is always present at meetings, is available whenever we reach out or need him, and shares excellent input with the team to help guide us in the decision-making process. We have help from Hellina with our case statement and Aaron, who helped share his expertise in marketing with the Penn State extension marketing team but also helped us consider ways to reach more people and how to track data from the web.
