The African American Experience: Cultural Competency and Capacity in Extension Executive Leadership Fellow: Arlene Wilson, Cornell University Team Work Plan Fellow Report: The project team from Cornell Extension continues working well together. The team is composed of two individuals [Malinda Ware and Arlene Wilson] who have worked on prior projects together. A weekly time has been scheduled, with each person having clearly defined deliverables.
Significant Results: Short Term Outcomes: 1. Recruitment of Land Grant University Partners
a. West Virginia University and University of Minnesota have both expressed interested in A Brave Space Cohort based learning program b. Zoom Conference held and attended by four Virginia LGU administrative staff c. Zoom Conference held and attended by two Minnesota LGU/DOH administrative staff 2. Commitment of Land Grant University Partners a. University of Minnesota and a representative from the Minnesota Department of Health will be participating in a Spring cohort in 2023. b. West Virginia University and West Virginia State will both be participating. Mid-Term Outcomes: 1. Validation of Curated Learning Resources document. [This was disseminated in advance to the 50+ registrants to the Cornell University Agriculture In-Service on November 17th.] Post event feedback demonstrated how this tool can be used to expand cultural competency towards the development of extension food systems community outreach strategies that are relationships based and less extractive and transactional.
