Extension Evaluation Matters: 2nd Edition

STAGE 2: REFLECTION, SYNTHESIS, AND REVISION

1. Reviewing Evaluation Implementation and Decisions . An important process for this stage is reviewing evaluation implementation and decisions. It is important to allow for reflection of programmatic processes and decisions, and document suggested issues or changes (i.e. metaevaluation). Stufflebeam (1999) provides a comprehensive checklist to help inform this process, which is grounded in program evaluation standards. For each of the 30 standards, the checklist includes six checkpoints drawn from the substance of the standard. Access the checklist here. 2. Review and Revise Program Models . As a program grows and develops, so does its logic model. In this stage, one must consider reviewing and revising program models that incorporates new insights and potential lifecycle changes. Setting times throughout the year to revisit the logic model based on new data to make revisions/additions as necessary. 3. Revise Scope and Evaluation Plan : Document next stages of evaluation. Once you have reviewed the evaluation process and revised the program model, it is time to revise the scope and plan for evaluation. Revisit the Lifecycle Definitions and Alignment Page along with your logic model to determine these changes.
