Stephen M. Gavazzi, Ph.D. is a Professor in the Department of HumanSciences at The Ohio State University. Dr. Gavazzi is known for his work on a variety of higher education issues. His book Land-Grant Universities for the Future (co- authored with E. Gordon Gee)was published in 2018 by Johns Hopkins University Press. Gavazzi andGee alsoare co-authors of the book What’s Public About Public Higher Ed? to be published in October 2021 by Johns Hopkins University Press. Professor Gavazzi also co-edited (with David Staley) the book Fulfilling the 21 st Century Land-Grant Mission for The Ohio State University Press.
Dr. Gavazzi is a trained marriage and family therapist whose scholarship for the past thirty years has surrounded the impact that family dynamics have on adolescent development and behavior. He has writtena book for parents entitled “Strong Families, Successful Students” that was published in 2010, and a textbook entitled “Families with Adolescents: Bridging the Gaps BetweenTheory, R esearch, and Practice” that was published in 2011 by Springer Press. Professor Gavazzi’s other recent scholarshipcenters on the establishment and maintenance of healthy campus-community relationships.
