He was tubist in the Idaho Brass Quinte t from 1998‐2019 and the Washington Idaho Symphony from 1998‐2008. Dr. Lawrence has performed with many other ensembles including the Spokane Symphony, Oregon Symphony (Portland), Eugene Symphony, and the Oregon Mozart Players. As a soloist he has performed recitals throughout theWest and was featuredwith multiple ensembles playing the tuba concerti of Ralph VaughanWilliams (three times), EdwardGregson (twice), and Eric Ewazen (once). Originally from Tacoma, Washington, Lawrence earnedBachelor of Music and Master ofMusic degrees at NorthwesternUniversity, where he studied tuba with RexMartin. He completed a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Tuba Performance and Wind Conducting at the Universityof Oregon where he studied with Michael Grose and Robert Ponto. He and his wife, Sara, live near Viola, Idaho. Their first child, Thomas, was born in 2008 and their second, Jane, in 2012. His favorite activities include building Legos with his kids, swimming, running, bicycling, and sailing the coastal waters ofWashington and BritishColumbia.

Barbara Petty, Ph.D.

AssociateDean Director of Extension, College ofAgricultural and Life Sciences Barbara Petty is an associate deanat the Universityof Idaho’s College of Agricultural and Life Sciences and director of University of Idaho Extension. She has servedas an Extension educator, a district director and in 2015, Barbara moved to Moscow, Idaho, to serve in her current administrative role.

Barbara’s educational background includes a Ph.D. from the Univer sityof Idaho in education.

James Lindstrom, Ed.D.

4-H Youth Development ProgramDirector, College ofAgricultural and Life Sciences

James Lindstrom, Ed.D. is currently the ProgramDirector for the Universityof Idaho 4-H Youth Development program. Lindstrombrings thirty-nine years of professional experience to this role. He has engaged in 4-H programdevelopment in Montana, Arizona, Washington, and now Idaho. Lindstrom’s experience includes developing 4-H Youth Development programming in rural, isolated counties, urban counties, and diverse audiences. He helped form the Global 4-H Network Boardand was a member of that board for six years. He currently serves on ECOP 4-H, representing theWesternExtension Region.
