UConn 4-H: Positive Youth Development

UConn 4-H is the youth development program of Extension in UConn's College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources. 4-H is a community of over six million young people across the U.S. who are learning Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), leadership, citizenship and life skills through their 4-H project work. 4-H provides youth with the opportunity to develop lifelong skills including civic engagement and healthy living. Career and College Readiness

Statewide Enrollment

93% of respondents who participated in college and career readiness programs stated that 4-H has helped them identify things they are good at. 91% of respondents who participated in college and career readiness programs reported that 4-H has helped them explore future career options. STEM STEM is an integral part of UConn 4-H. 91% of our youth learned something new about STEM. 80% reported that at 4-H they talked about how science can be used to help solve everyday problems.

Community Engagement Youth development programs instill a sense of community service into participants. 90% reported that they completed a community service project through the UConn 4-H program.
