Workforce Development Fellow: TBH Roadmap
Fellow Report: The ECOP Workforce and Economic Development Program Action Team, led by Dr. Ivory Lyles, Oregon State University, is in the process of inviting Directors, Specialists and Partners to be part of the Workforce and Economic Development Program Action Team. The PAT is currently developing a strategic planning and structure process and invites leaders to participate in this development. Once the structure has been agreed upon, priorities will be identified, and Implementation Teams will coalesce around the top few, and develop next steps. The Workforce and Economic Development PAT will also be closely linked with other PATs including Climate; Urban Ag and Food Systems; Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; 4-H Positive Youth Development and Health. The Workforce PAT, in partnership with the Extension Foundation, is also in the process of hiring a Workforce Development Fellow. This Fellowship will help support work moving forward, and engage new partners for the system. The Workforce PAT is asking all Directors/Administrators to encourage educators working in economic development, workforce, skills development and training including: family, youth, agriculture, non-traditional and others; to please register their program in the National Registry of Cooperative Extension Programs & Assets (NRCEPA). This registry will be used to identify, support, scale, and provide a snapshot of CES' depth and breadth of Workforce and Economic Development programming. Non-traditional examples: meat-cutting skills, pesticide safety training, babysitting and child care skills programs and others. Implementation Teams, sub-committees of the Action Team, are composed of Extension faculty and specialists from across the nation with the task of identifying Extension programs that are ready to be scaled up and funded at the national level. The Implementation Teams would serve as Extension’s partnering group regarding national workforce and economic development initiatives for their theme. The implementation team will also be responsible for developing letters of intent or submitting large grants on behalf of ECOP. A second task of the Priority Implementation Team would be to provide content to further develop the advocacy toolkit for workforce and economic development. Initially, these teams meet bi-weekly. If a faculty and/or staff member is interested in being involved in an Implementation Team, please send contact information to Caroline Henney. This call is still active.
