Fellow Report: The Fellow and graduate student who are working on the project both started in December. The Fellow met with the NUEL Steering Committee on December 14 in Chattanooga, TN to discuss the project and begin collecting needs for communication and capacity building purposes. As a result of that conversation, NUEL put together a team to work on beginning to develop a communication plan at the January 18-20 Extension Foundation Impact Collaborative Experience(s) working with your Catalysts and Key Informants: The NUEL executive committee and fellow met with our NTAE catalyst Fred Schlutt in January. The team at the Impact Collaborative talked to two key informants about communication needs and planning on the second day of the Collaborative and met with Aaron Weibe the third day. The discussion with Aaron was specifically about possibilities and plans for using Connect Extension as its primary mode of communicating with the national Extension system. Aaron is currently reviewing NUEL's current website, hosted by the Extension Foundation, and use of current urban focused Connect Extension groups. The fellow and Aaron have a meeting to discuss Aaron's assessment in early February. The fellow has, or plans to, also reached out to Rose Hayden-Smith to see if she would also be available to join them for that meeting. Significant Results ● Great progress was made on evaluating current NUEL communication methods and options for the future. The Impact Collaborative team determined that having a Connect Extension group would be the best way to meet most of NUEL's communication needs. Anticipated work for the next reporting period (March 1, 2021 - May 31, 2022) ● Review Aaron's assessment of current website and Connect Extension group use in order to develop a plan for use of Connect Extension to develop an Urban Extension /NUEL Connect Extension group. ● Create the Urban Extension/NUEL group, including developing a basic description of the site, some initial connections, and a calendar of events. ● Inventory and organize NUEL Google drive as a companion site for the Connect Extension site to be used for document storage. ● Reorganize NUEL website so that it can be a companion site for the Connect Extension site.
