Extension Foundation Report on Emerging Technologies Impacting the Cooperative Extension System – 2021 In 2019 - 2020 the Extension Foundation conducted research on emerging technologies that could potentially impact the Cooperative Extension Service (CES). A panel of experts from across the CES system was used for trend identification and feedback, along with literature collected by a team of researchers from The Ohio State University. Seven emerging technologies were identified and are discussed. The full report includes impacts and recommendations for CES. Extension Foundation NTAE Technology Fellow Survey – 2020 A survey was conducted in the winter of 2020 by Extension Foundation as part of the NTAE technology fellowship. It surveyed a national Cooperative Extension audience about technology use and adoption. More than 300 individuals responded.

2020 EDUCAUSE Horizon Report – Teaching and Learning Edition – 2020 This recently released report has much to inform our work in Cooperative Extension. In particular, it takes a look at online education, declining funding in higher education, and a range of technologies and their use, including the elevation of instructional design.

2019 EDUCAUSE Horizon Report – Higher Education Edition – 2019 While this report was developed with resident higher education in mind, there is much that can inform our work in Cooperative Extension, including trends accelerating technology adoption, social media use, and the evolution of online learning.

Ask Extension: Applying Artificial Intelligence to Extension Results of an initial landscape overview – 2019 This white paper explores the possibility of using Artificial Intelligence to scale-up Cooperative Extension ’s “Ask An Expert” model.

Journal of Extension Special Issue on Innovation – 2018 This comprehensive issue of JOE contains 22 articles exploring innovation in Cooperative Extension, many of them focusing on technology. E-Connectivity in Rural America: Public Research Universities Advancing Digital Inclusion This concept paper – developed by the Association of Land-grant and Public Universities – outlines challenges to rural connectivity. It also provides examples of programs and projects developed by public universities, and includes examples from Cooperative Extension organizations.
